I’m trained as an architect so it was important to me to capture the architectural essence of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. building. I shot in black and white to accentuate the raw, industrial feel of the glass and concrete structure. I used the layering and compositing techniques to add a dynamic, almost futuristic quality, reflecting the innovative design of the museum. I emphasized the interplay of light and shadows, combined with the geometric lines, to enhance the sense of depth and complexity. I felt the person walking through the space in one of the photographs added a human element, providing scale and a focal point within the abstract composition. High ceilings with exposed mechanicals, concrete floors, and structural columns are all highlighted, emphasizing the minimalist yet monumental nature of the architecture.
