Gardens

I shot this series of photographs in well known gardens throughout Los Angeles. My idea was to  capture the serene and intricate design of a garden, highlighting the cultural and aesthetic elements that define it. The black and white treatment emphasizes the variety of textures and forms of trees, the architectural details of structures and the reflective surface of the different ponds. I focused on different garden styles, such as Chinese, Japanese, and English, showcasing my appreciation for the variety of landscape architecture. Each culture has unique elements, and the goal of my photographs was to convey the essence of each particular garden. My background in landscape architecture influenced the way I composed  the images, emphasizing the harmony between the natural and built elements. I wanted the photographs to not only capture the beauty of the garden but also reflect the principles of design and the cultural significance of these spaces. I wanted  my images to be a testament to the diversity of garden designs and the peaceful retreat they offer amidst urban environments.
